I am Synthia D’Souza and I am on a mission to help children develop a love for Math!
I began my vocational career as an elementary school teacher and in my 15-year experience of training young minds with the tool of the Abacus, I have experienced the joy of developing hundreds of Math-loving students and satisfied parents.
Brain Train Academics is my brain-child that I started in 2005, when I saw the great need to remove the fear of Math from the minds of young or even older children. Provided with the much-needed training to develop vitally important Math-skills, these young minds have now found a new love for Math. My own passion in this subject has led me not just to conduct offline and online classes but also prepare my own study materials for each level in the program, thus making the journey easier and enriching for my students.
As we know, every child is blessed with different capabilities, talents and aptitudes. While it is important to recognise these strengths within each child, it is equally important to provide them with tools, opportunities and mentors to hone those very interests and skills. When I was a child, I felt an instant connection with numbers but it was thanks to my teacher, who saw the potential in me, that I pursued the subject further than my prescribed syllabus. She recognized my capabilities, and with the right skill set and encouragement, gave me clarity & confidence to make Math work for me. It made a world of difference to have an encouraging teacher beside me, and I want to pass on that experience by being a supportive mentor to all students.
Math goes beyond school books. It’s all around us. From counting down to our children’s birthdays, organising play dates, paying bills and fees, shopping and of course paying taxes, Math forms an important part of lives without us even realising it. While simple Math is an everyday affair, when properly learnt, it helps us think analytically and have superior reasoning abilities. Which is why when skill sets are introduced at an early stage, children are guaranteed success in all endeavours: school exams, competitive tests and certifications, as well as problem-solving abilities in future careers.
